The fresh new face of Downtown Prairie du Chien can be witnessed all along Blackhawk Avenue from Blackhawk Junction to Main Street. Since the beginning of the Main Street Program in 2005, 13 businesses have either improved the façade of their building or had completely new construction.

Blackhawk Junction, the Rickleff/Ameriprise Building, Radio Shack, Walgreens, Hartig Drug, Jim’s Bar, Althof’s Television, Wall Street, The Pickett Fence, The Sawmill Saloon, Simply, Historic City Hall, and the Collins Building (Vierbicher & Associates)

What an impact this has made on our downtown! Downtown Prairie du Chien also has several other businesses that expressed interest in PDRI’s Façade Improvement Grant Program for 2008. Upon the completion of a façade improvement project that utilizes our Façade Improvement Program, PDRI and the Chamber of Commerce team up to hold a “Fresh New Face” Event which introduces the newly updated façade to the community. It is great to see so many building owners taking such pride in their properties and in our downtown.
