Sponsored by the Prairie du Chien, Platteville, and Viroqua Main Street Programs and the Wisconsin Department of Commerce Community Based Economic Development (CBED) Program.

In addition to the Rick Segal Retailing Workshop held in October, PDRI is hosting three additional workshops in Prairie du Chien: Business Planning & Accounting (February 25), Visual Merchandising & Signage (March 10), and Customer Service & Marketing (March 18).

Business Planning & Accounting
February 25 - 6pm-9pm

It takes a business plan to start a new business, but how do you sustain it? Learn the major components of a business plan, how to prepare for a visit to the bank, and continuous improvement planning strategies to ensure the future success of your business. Utilizing accounting practices for the 21st century can enhance your ability to analyze your current state and determine the path of your future.

Hear from Trudy Wallin and Paul Severson about the value of continuous planning and proper bookkeeping practices.




Visual Merchandising & Signage
March 10 - 6pm-9pm

What do customers see when they come in your door? Are you displaying your merchandise in a way that is going to enhance your sales? Learn the basics of visual merchandising from Tammie Katzung and Darci Dickens. Do you believe that your storefront, window displays and signage portray the image of your business? Do these things add to the image of your downtown as a unified commercial district?

Learn the impact of appropriate signage in  business, and historic districts from Joe Lawniczak, the Wisconsin Main Street Design Coordinator.
